The Greek and I like to spoil each other rotten at least once a year. This time we decided to go to Sundance overnight. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner at The Tree Room and then enjoyed a very cozy night in a suite by the river.
The next morning we ate some yummy omelets and then headed up the mountain on the ski lift. Our intention was to hike to Stewart Falls. We had been warned that the trail was closed, but thought how bad could it be.
Those are the falls in the background, looking very innocent and inviting. So we decided to ignore the signs and follow the trail until we found this valley of melting snow.
No problem, right? Then we found this ice cave with a raging underground river. The trail next to it was pretty much washed out. Still we pressed forward down the mountain until the trail disappeared again under a vertical drop covered with ice. Since we didn't have any spiky shoes or climbing equipment we decided we better head back up the mountain and try again in maybe a month.

I love everything about Sundance: the scenery, the blue skies, the cabins, the food, and the water. They have the best tasting water right out of the tap. It comes from a mountain spring and it is so yummy I had to take a picture of it.
I forgot to mention, when I wrote this yesterday, that Sundance has a great discount for Utah residents. You can find more info about that here. Too bad we didn't have a coupon for The Tree Room. The people sitting next to us did and I was wondering where they got it.
